The English discovered port back in the 1700’s, and ever since then, England has been the most important export destination for Portuguese wine.
Portugal is a very special wine-growing country, home to a wealth of native grape varieties and terroirs, from the mountainous regions to a more maritime climate. In turn, these grapes produce a wide range of styles from crisp dry whites to full bodied spicy reds.
It is a pleasure to welcome winemaker David Baverstock, a man who was recently appointed Comendador da Ordem do Mérito Empresarial (an honour rarely granted to those not of Portuguese origin) for services to agriculture. David will lead Members through a Masterclass on Portuguese wines, along with his project, Howard’s Folly co-hosting with our good friend and Member, Howard Bilton.
Widely recognised as the leading winemaker in Portugal, David will guide Members through this remarkable tasting of current and future releases of Howard’s Folly wines and share his extensive experience on Portuguese wines and wine-making.
