We are very excited to invite you to the ultimate ‘insider’ weekend in Champagne, where we have been lucky enough to secure tables at the Chapitre des Vendanges (the Harvest Assembly) especially for Members of the Club on the evening of Friday 11th October.
This is the high point gala dinner of the Ordre des Côteaux de Champagne – Champagne’s official and most prestigious body. Members are invited to attend the annual awards ceremony and drinks reception, and the exquisite cuisine throughout the dinner itself served alongside outstanding champagnes, mostly in magnum.
The venue is the stunning Palais du Tau in Reims, located next to the cathedral, where French monarchs were once housed and entertained before their coronation. Dress for the dinner is formal, truly befitting the most important date in the annual Champagne calendar…
Our guide will be 67 Pall Mall Member and champagne expert Tim Hall, who is an Officier of the Order and has organised the wonderful series of New Wave Champagne events at the Club for the last four years. The fee for Members and guests includes the champagne dinner and two visits to top champagne producers on Saturday 12th October, led by Tim. In addition, should it be of interest, you and your guests will also have the opportunity to buy select champagnes at very reasonable prices.
Travel and accommodation arrangements we will leave entirely up to you; once you have confirmed your attendance, a more thorough schedule will be sent to you regarding the dinner and the meeting point for Saturday’s visits. For ease, we have included some recommendations for hotels below.
Timing wise, you will need to arrive in Reims by the afternoon of the 11th October, and Saturday’s champagne tours will aim to finish mid-afternoon, around 4pm.
The quickest way of getting to Reims is by Eurostar to Paris Gard du Nord. After a ten minute walk to the TGV, you then take the train from Gare de l’Est to Reims (45 mins).
This is an absolute must for the champagne lovers among us – it will be a truly spectacular night and with Tim’s expert guidance, a wonderful insight into the world of champagne.
